Things I’ve Loved Lately
Books:
The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon: I know, I know, I am so late to the party on this one. But hello enemies-to-lovers, romantasy goodness. I absolutely devoured this book, and I cannot wait to see where Thea takes me next. Thank god I got an arc of A MONSOON RISING.
For One Night Only by Jessica James: One of my best friends sold her contemporary romance debut, and it’s coming from Berkley next January! This swoony second-chance romance features former band-mates brought back together for a single reunion concert—but will the rekindled chemistry be the start of something new or burn for one night only? With messy bisexual and achingly authentic anxiety rep, this debut is for all the contemporary romance fans.
Best Hex Ever by Nadia El-Fassi: I was so lucky to get an early copy of BEST HEX EVER, and y’all, this is the cosy fantasy romance of the fall. Equal part swoony and sexy, filled with all sorts of delicious tropes, this romance will have you rooting for Dina and Scott from the meet-cute on! But fair warning—do not read this book while you’re hungry. The food descriptions are to die for.
TV:
Interview with the Vampire: An absolute masterclass in adaptation, I was on the edge of my seat through the whole second season. It probably comes as no surprise that I grew up on The Vampire Chronicles and the work of Anne Rice, but the way this show has been able the emotional core of the series and update it for a modern audience is nothing short of masterful. I can’t wait for season three—and for Rockstar Lestat!
The Acolyte: I really thought I was done with Star Wars—but then Manny Jacinto pulled me back in. Don’t judge me, I am only human. Have you seen his arms? But honestly, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this show. I appreciate how this creative team has been able create their own story within the Star Wars universe and the way they’ve been digging into the Force, and I can’t wait to see how this season ends. One more episode to go!
And that’s it for now! Thank you for reading, and if you’ve made it this far, enjoy this picture of my cat, Zuko.
